Strange Old Woods New England-style IPA Release

On Friday, July 21 we will divert from expectation. We will introduce you to a mammoth feast of papaya, passionfruit, mango, tangerine, and key lime with mellowed bitterness and a round mound of ripe and juicy hop flavor.

This is the release of Solemn Oath’s newest creation Strange Old Woods, a double dry-hopped New England-style India Pale Ale. The owls are not what they seem and this beer is properly hazed.

Oath Day Five Nitty Gritty

The fifth day of Oath. This is our 1,849th day of operation and we’re thrilled to have the chance to celebrate with many of you on Saturday from 4-10PM.

Your primary goal for tomorrow is to have a good time. Enjoy the beer, the company of friends you’ve just met, and celebrate responsibly. For the last several years we’ve packed four figures worth of people into our parking lot and brewery successfully, so please keep our neighbors and the City of Naperville in mind when you’re deciding how hard to party or how to party hard. We would like to continue to have the option to celebrate big, so now it’s on you to conduct yourselves in a manor that your grandparents would be proud of. We trust that we’re all on the same page about this.

Heavyweight and BA Telegraph Release

As the Midwest finally thaws we enter Solemn Oath’s period for cool spring sippers. This year we’re celebrating our actual fifth birthday week by releasing a pair of beers that will scratch that wood-aged itch. But they’re not alone, they’re bringing friends.

The Old Order continues Saturday, May 20 with the featured release of Heavyweight Ticklefight Champion of the World and Barrel-Aged Telegraph. These graceful displays of a couple of our favorite high-gravity creations each sat twelve months in bourbon barrels before giving us the thumbs up of readiness. Heavyweight features rich caramel, vanilla, and toffee malt character with subtle oak and spirit notes. Telegraph, our celebrated Scotch Ale, parades its rich raisin and subtle roast malt character with notes of toasted coconut, oak, and bourbon. The party starts at 10AM for members and noon for everyone.

We Fear Change Double IPA Release

An aromatic detonation of pineapple, passionfruit, and citrus is what we at Solemn Oath thrive on. Since our humble beginnings in 2012, we’ve been toying with fruity Trappist yeast along with a focus on the most American of hops. This sunshine-colored Double IPA is the latest evolution of our signature style.

On Friday, May 19 we will debut a brand new piece of the Solemn Oath family with this one-time-only release. We Fear Change. Nine percent ABV.

A thousand units in Oshkosh? Tommy, that’s fabulous.

We are officially back in business in Wisconsin and looking forward to hanging with so many friends and craft supporters to the north. Cans and draft will be readily available in the coming weeks and we’re kicking things off with Milwaukee as you read this. Madison will follow as we jump off the week of May 15.

Wisconsin is a second home to SOB. I’m (Ed. note: SOB President John Barley) from there and we have a number of big things in store in the coming years for the state. We’re thrilled to be kicking off our partnership with General Beverage and if you haven’t yet seen, we’re also hiring a Market Manager for Wisconsin. Apply yourself or tell your friends and family.

Limousine of the Damned Release Details

The Old Order 2017 begins Saturday, March 4 with the release of Limousine of the Damned. This intrepid blend of Russian imperial stout, American barleywine, and Scotch ale aged twelve months in bourbon barrels took home a bronze medal in the experimental beer category at the 2015 Festival of Barrel Aged Beers.

We have a lot planned in a short window but the main principle of Saturday, March 4 is to have a good time. This beer is not available for pre-sale and will be available while supplies last. Keep in mind that all of our beer is unfiltered and unpasteurized. Keep these beers cold and drink them fresh.

Within the walls here at the brewery we look at 2017 as the beginning of Solemn Oath 2.0. This year we’ll be celebrating our fifth anniversary, which is crazy. With your ongoing support we have accomplished some incredible things.

We have cans all over the Chicagoland market, an incredible amount of supporting accounts in the draft world, and our wood-aged beer membership, The Old Order, continues to grow and thrive. With this growth comes a renewed focus on innovation that I can tell you is part of our foundation in 2017, 2018, and beyond.

The Old Order 2017

The Old Order exists for those who want to make sure that they can get their hands on our wood-aged beer releases without the risk of them selling out or having to wait in long lines. Proudly, we’re able to say with wood-aged bottles being released for the first time in 2016, more than 90% of this beer reached the hands of members of The Old Order and their invited guests. This is something we will continue, and we hope a few of you will take advantage of this opportunity.

In 2017, we’re expanding The Old Order program ever so slightly. We’ve learned a lot from our initial rendition of The Old Order and the overwhelming support of this group has been humbling. Throughout 2016, our production team has focused on brewing, aging, blending, and packaging this set of beers to deliver the highest quality, most interesting beers possible. From creative new event concepts to the experiences built around our quarterly releases, our business and marketing team has strived to give you experiences with and access to SOB like never before. All of this resulted in this making more than double the wood-aged beer than we ever had before, and sharing it in new ways.
