Now at SOB you can drink a beer in the fresh air under an open sky. Our patio and Taproom expansion is complete and ready for you to enjoy. This Friday, August 11 will be its formal grand opening.
To celebrate we’re dropping Oktöberface cans for the first time ever, Nobel House is on the grill firing up sausages, and we’re going to be toasting to while you sit down in comfort at one of our seven community tables or perhaps inside overlooking the brewhouse in a booth. We designed this for your comfort so you truly hope you come and enjoy. Now and most importantly, the beer.
SOB Head Brewer Tim Marshall says:
“Oktöberface is our interpretation of the traditional German style Märzen lager, known for its elegant malt profile of toasted, bready flavor characteristics with a subtle spicy/floral hop balance, dry finish, and smooth, lagered fermentation character. These beers are usually medium-bodied and have an ABV of around 5.5-6%. In an environment where most of the consumer focus lies with hop-forward, ultra-hop-forward, hop-forward with haze, and sour beers, the soft malt complexity of traditional styles can be a refreshing change of pace and a welcome palate cleanser. Also, something about the emergence of maltier beers elicit a nostalgia for pants, closed-toed shoes, and sweater weather.”
“Our version of the Märzen style takes a slightly more American approach, while maintaining the signature flavor aspects of the style. The malt bill consists entirely of imported German malt, with a blend of Vienna, Munich, and Pilsner varieties for a rich flavor profile of toasted bread, biscuit, and subtle caramel sweetness. American-grown Mt. Hood hops lend a spicy, floral hop balance with a noticeable fresh, floral hop aroma from a conservative dry-hopping of the classic German Hallertau Mittelfrüh variety. Fermentation occurs at 50˚F, using a clean, Mexican lager yeast for a smooth drinkability and crisp finish. Our goal is to create a dynamic yet balanced representation of the classic style with enough subtle variation to make it memorable and distinctive. Look for it on draft and in limited-release 16 oz. cans.”
Date of Release: Friday, August 11 at 4PM at Solemn Oath Brewery
Eats: Geneva’s Nobel House is going to pulling out some specialties on the bratwurst side from 4-8PM. This staple of the western burbs will be bringing out nothing but quality offerings. We love them and you will too.
