Our post Oath Day beer release breather has ended and we are back with more freshness.

A celebration of a celebration, a PSA for blood thirsty koala bears, cool French-speaking terms for the word cool, an add-on to the lactose IPA world begun by the Gabriel Hounds, a Lü Ripfest celebration with our friends from Jimmy’s Grill in Naperville, and a brand new kind of Butterfly. Here’s what’s up for the next few weeks in Solemn Oath beer.

Another year of celebration for one of Chicagoland’s largest beer festivals right here in our hometown. This year we raise a glass with a limited run bomber of an End All protégé featuring the most forward of gigantic orange bursts in an already orange-driven beer. Hazy IPA with blood orange is ready for the one and only Naperville Ale Fest.

Drop-Bear-Promo

Drop Bear

Galaxy-Hopped American Double India Pale Ale
7.3% ABV
Australians know that at all times you need to be Drop Bear wise. Always hunting, Drop Bears are essentially the predatory and carnivorous koala bear waiting patiently from the Eucalyptus. To do our part for awareness we’re dropping this double IPA showcasing Galaxy. An intense tropical citrus aroma and flavor with a topnote of stone fruit combines with a firm malt body to balance the gentle warming of the 7.3% ABV. Look up, the Drop Bear is coming.

TUESDAY, JULY 3

Thousands and thousands of people descend on Naperville this time of year to get their hands dirty with sweet and tasty slabs of ribs at Ribfest. This year we built our own layer with the First Annual Solemn Oath Lü’s Ripfest. At SOB and at Jimmy’s Grill in Naperville we’ll be slinging $3 Lü beers through the holiday week. Nothing could be a more appropriate raised can to our nation’s birthday.

Top-Cool-Promo

Top Cool

Belgian Rye Pale Ale
5.5% ABV
The cool kids in the French-speaking part of the world use the phrase ‘Top Cool’ to mean really awesome. This fit well with what our friends at Able Seedhouse and Brewery  in Minnesota are doing as they not only brew but operate as a pilot maltster as well. Over Oath Day week they came to brew a beer together with their Hazlet Rye. We wanted to make sure to let the herbal/toffee/honey characterof the Rye shine and let it weave through the Nugget, Crystal, and Eukanot hops. Add in some fresh Trappist yeast and Elle est top cool.

Six-Whistlers-Promo

Six Whistlers

New England-Style IPA with Lactose
5.5% ABV
At Solemn Oath we often weave narratives and stories from history into our beer names. Last month we released the pure fire Gabriel Hounds New England-Style IPA with lactose. In Welsh folklore and told by the poet William Wordsworth, before the hounds were released came the whistlers. Birds flying overhead that were often heard and rarely seen, but flying in a flock of six and searching eternally for their seventh. Once the seventh was found it foretold the apocalypse and released the Gabriel Hounds to hunt the wicked. This month we release the Six Whistlers, an NE-IPA with lactose featuring El Dorado, Citra, and Amarillo. This one is for the night seekers in search of their 7th compatriot.

Friday, JULY 13

The styles of the east coast continue to inspire and influence our brewery at Solemn Oath. Last year at this time we released Strange Old Woods, our first-ever NE-inspired IPA. Friday, July 13 around 5PM we celebrate yet again with our friends from Standard Market on hand for killer lobster rolls and all the New England food inspiration. We’re also trying something completely new with the style and weaving in a part of our foundation story, Belgian yeast.

Butterfly Kaleidoscope

NE-Belgian-Style India Pale Ale
6.8% ABV
From the beginning we’ve been bringing our version of beers torn from the soul of Belgian tradition. Butterfly Flashmob debuted in 2012 as an example of the most hop-forward of what an effervescent Belgo-American beers can be. This July that tradition continues as we bring you Butterfly Kaleidoscope, a Citra-forward NE-inspired IPA made with Trappist yeast. Low bitterness and enough tropical fruit bursts to cause Brasserie de Rochefort, Brouwerij der Trappisten van Westmalle, Brouwerij Westvleteren/St Sixtus, Bières de Chimay, Brasserie d’Orval, Brouwerij der Sint-Benedictusabdij de Achelse Kluis, Brouwerij de Koningshoeven, Stift Engelszell, St. Joseph’s Abbey, Brouwerij Abdij Maria Toevlucht, and Tre Fontane Abbey to call for the reformation of The Order of Calatrava.

Butterfly Flashmob

Belgian-Style India Pale Ale
6.8% ABV
An awakening of your hop-forward Belgian soul. Our brewery was founded on the idea that a beer like this could exist with the historical applications of Belgian Trappist yeast and a hop-smash of Americana atop it. Citra Citra Citra-heavy and what became the original year-round beer for Solemn Oath. This will be a fresh drop to be compared side by side with the freshness of the Butterfly Kaleidoscope creation.

Sometimes at Solemn Oath we listen to rock and sometimes we listen to rap. On occasion you might hear some jazz, pop, or a splash of early punk. The important thing to realize is that we’re always lively. Always accomplishing something. Always planning for what we hope will not be your favorite new thing, or the brewery’s favorite new thing, but our favorite thing together. Never complacent and always adapting. Changing the world, probably.
